Gilbert Arenas says WNBA needs more ‘cutiepies’ in lingerie

 

NOW this is what america was hoping for when they announced the #WNBA back in 1996… not a bunch of chicks running around looking like,cast members from #orangeisthenewblack…dont get me wrong,they have few #cutiepies but theres a whole alotta #beanpies running around hahahahahaha if #skylardiggins came out like this,I dont care if she missed every layup..imma buy season tickets and I dont even know where the f*ck #tulsa is hahahaha #2016newwnbaoutfitPLS and if u think this is sexist,9 times out of 10 u the ugly one and we didnt pay to come see u play anyway #donkeykong …smdh #thiswillbeawesome #soldouteverywhere

I won’t pretend to be a fan of the WNBA. And I think my record is clear on supporting lingerie leagues in all sports, or frankly any type of activity that involves attractive women, freely pursuing excellence whatever little amount of clothing they choose.

But I’m not posting this because I endorse what Gilbert Arenas is saying. Not by any means. I’m posting this because it’s always entertaining any time a celebrity decides one simple, stupid, reckless and damaging social media post is worth committing career suicide. And that’s exactly what Arenas has done here. With one Instagram post he managed to aim a flamethrower at lesbians, the NBA that paid him tens of millions and owns the WNBA, women in general, and the entire cast of “Orange is the New Black.” (Sorry, Taylor Schilling and Laura Prepon.)

Maybe this won’t do him any harm. Maybe Arenas has enough money socked away that he’ll never need an endorsement deal. Maybe he doesn’t care that he just made himself radioactive with the NBA and most of the country and will never be able to get a job coaching or broadcasting, ever. And maybe his current employers — the Shanghai Sharks — don’t mind having a homophobe on the payroll. All I know is you can’t fix stupid. All you can do is blog about it.
