In the newest installment of Tropes vs. Women in Video Games, host Anita Sarkeesian tackles outfit choices. Watch above as she explores why some women in games are just given lingerie to wear in battles, while men protect themselves with suits of armor.
Examples of the trend include Bayonetta, Perfect Dark and the Street Fighter series. Sarkeesian uses these and other titles to explain that skimpy outfits for women aren’t just impractical, but sexualized. The episode even features a little animation spoofing Perfect Dark‘s clothing preferences.
“When fictional female characters in games are dressed in impractical armor or clothing, it encourages players to view them as sex objects,” she says at the end of the video, “and reinforces the already pervasive and harmful notion in our culture that sexualization is the most viable or only real route to power for women.”

There’s more to come this season, which is set to be the show’s last.
The organization has plans for another project, Ordinary Women, which met its funding goal earlier this spring. The first episode will debut in September.

Kim Kardashian West was all about the romance this weekend, celebrating husband Kanye West‘s birthday in a sheer lingerie-inspired slip dress while out at dinner.
The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star headed out to a special meal Sunday in New York City with the rapper who turns 39 on June 8 and, as usual, she turned heads in a sexy, form-fitting look.

Kim simultaneously showcased her love of neutrals and flaunted her famous curves in a plunging lace slip from Celine’s spring 2016 collection, which featured a delicate white lace hem and black satin waist. The 35-year-old paired the lacy look with simple Manolo Blahnik strappy sandals, flowing center-parted tresses, and a nude makeup look with bold brows. Later in the evening, Kardashian covered up in a matching silk trench coat.
