An array of ready-to-wear clothing collections, created by a talented mix of young and seasoned designers, was showcased at the just wrapped up edition of Portland Fashion Week in Oregon.

Designer Brady Lange kicked off the catwalk soiree with a football-inspired line titled Let’s Play. Enhanced with giant bows and garter belts, the range included several kitschy yet playful men’s and women’s innerwear pieces like sheer shirts and pants, midriff-baring jerseys, racy cheerleader-style skirts and printed bra and brief combos.

The Seattle-based organic textile specialist KLAD by Melanie Trygg highlighted a mix of soft, flowy garments and structured outerwear. The collection’s major attractions were draped lightweight loungewear pieces, front-zippered skirts and satin gowns with ruched and side cutout detailing.

Designer Katie Guinn featured a transitional seasonal range made from vintage fabrics. Based on classis hues of black and white with sudden splashes of hot pink, the floral print heavy Spring/Fall collection included graphic T-shirts and matching skirts as well as crop-top and fringed skirt combos.

In addition to the traditional mainstream runway pieces, the event also showcased an edgy plus-sized womenswear line from Claire Doody’s Copper Union brand. Inspired from flowers and Los Angeles’ street art patterns, the ensembles were enhanced with bold geometric and vibrant floral prints. Based on strong shades of neon green and magenta, the collection showed sheer blouses, flared skirts, sequined jackets and maxi dresses.

Also a childrenswear collection comprised of various pretty, flouncy earthy-toned frocks and floral appliquéd shift dresses for little girls by designer Erin Keys’ label Sister Fresh was displayed at the four-day event. (PB)

LOS ANGELES: Actress Sadie Frost has announced that a range of lingerie, which she has designed with daughter Iris, will go on sale in Debenhams next month.

The 49-year-old actress-turned-designer has enlisted the help of her daughter, Iris, 13, and 16-year-old Edie, the daughter of Frost’ collaborator Jemima French, to create a collection of underwear for young people, which will be sold in high street chain.

The Iris Edie line already features pyjamas and loungewear, and from next month will also encompass lingerie, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

“Iris and Edie were a strong influence on the collection from the word go and we all had great fun creating sketch books of inspirations,” said Frost.
