It’s not a real Texas road trip without a stop into Buc-ee’s. Here’s some of the things we saw for sale at the Buc-ee’s in Luling on a recent trip.

Photo: Brett Mickelson

JERKY: Nothing says “ROAD TRIP, BRO!” like eatin’ chewy meat, and Buc-ee’s has lots of it.

Photo: Brett Mickelson

CANDIED JALAPENOS: A real Texan considers regular jalapenos candy, but these are good, too.

Photo: Brett Mickelson

STYROFOAM COOLERS: Cheap and light – just the way we like the beers we stuff in them.

Photo: Brett Mickelson

HEAVY-DUTY COOLERS: In case your Dr Pepper six-pack picks a fight with a mountain lion.

Photo: Brett Mickelson

BUC-EE’S CANDY: When is Buc-ee’s going to start letting customers trick-or-treat?

Photo: Brett Mickelson

POPCORN: The snack most likely to be found mashed up and wedged in between your car seats four years from now.

Photo: Brett Mickelson

MEAT: Because it’s meat, and we want some. (And then some more.)

Photo: Brett Mickelson

FRUIT: Yeah, we’re going back to the meat …

Photo: Brett Mickelson

TRAIL MIX: Buy a variety and make your own trail mix trail mix.

Photo: Brett Mickelson

BEAVER NUGGETS: We’re not going to ask where they come from, Buc-ee.

Photo: Brett Mickelson

STUFFED TOYS: We gotta admit – the toothy lil’ guy is actually kind of cute.

Photo: Brett Mickelson

PEANUT PATTIE: The No. 1 candy of great-grandmothers everywhere.

Photo: Brett Mickelson

SWEETS: Because sugar is a best friend that never disappoints.

Photo: Brett Mickelson

STUFF IN MASON JARS: Eating fresh food is for wimps.

Photo: Brett Mickelson

HABANERO GARLIC: Horrible breath is the best way to discourage unwanted hitchhikers.

Photo: Brett Mickelson

GUMMY CANDY: Now in worms AND bears.

Photo: Brett Mickelson

FUDGE: It’s like chocolate’s naughty sister.

Photo: Brett Mickelson

BUC-EE’S HEADPHONES: So gangsta.

Photo: Brett Mickelson

WASABI PEAS: Good for clearing out the sinuses.

Photo: Brett Mickelson

SHIRTS, SHIRTS, SHIRTS: Plus, more shirts.

Photo: Brett Mickelson

… including these TIE-DIE T-SHIRTS: Undoubtedly making their comeback any minute now.

Photo: Brett Mickelson

Have we mentioned they sell shirts?

Photo: Brett Mickelson

…and also more shirts!!!

BASEBALL CAPS: Which go great with the shirts.

Photo: Brett Mickelson

BELT BUCKLE: Every self-respecting hipster should own one of these.

Photo: Brett Mickelson

VINTAGE SIGNS: If this is the dentist that Buc-ee uses, we’d suggest going elsewhere.

Photo: Brett Mickelson

AND FINALLY … THE CANVAS BAG: Because as silly as Buc-ee’s goodies sometimes seem, we still love them and will need something to take them all out to the car in.

Who can resist this mascot, as shown at a Buc-ee’s on U.S. 290 in Waller?

Rows and rows of gas pumps: Although it can get crowded, Buc-ee’s has a large number of pumps to keep travelers moving.

Coffee: It’s the life blood of road trips, and Buc-ee’s has plenty of it. They also have a huge selection of flavored creamers, which even includes your favorite candy flavors. What more could caffeine lovers ask for?

Photo: Julio Cortez, Chronicle

The food: Buc-ee’s has an efficient ordering system where customers place their order on a touch-screen computer and then wait for an employee to call it out. You can order deli sandwiches, wraps and other snacks.

The atmosphere: Some Buc-ee’s have seating areas for customers to enjoy their drinks and snacks without spilling everything in the car while knee driving.

Photo: Julio Cortez, Chronicle

The beaver paraphernalia: You can always spot a Buc-ee’s fan by the number of beavers on their car. And their t-shirts. And their hats. And their sunglasses.

Photo: Julio Cortez, Chronicle

The soft-drink selection: For caffeine lovers who don’t do coffee, Buc-ee’s soft drink selection is equally impressive.

Snacks: The other life-blood of road trips. Each location varies, but some Buc-ee’s stores have 100 varieties of wine, potato chips made on site, a Starbucks-like coffee operation, French and Italian olive oils, 48 flavors of Jelly Belly and scores of private-label products, like this jalapeno jerky.

The signs. There’s nothing like sighting a Buc-ee’s billboard on the road to lift your spirits with hope and visions of clean restrooms and Beaver nuggets. But then the hope sinks a little as you realize Buc-ee’s teases you with 10 more billboards before you finally reach the exit. What a tease.

The restrooms: The fact that they are the cleanest of any gas station/rest stop ever (probably) has been their claim to fame.

Last but not least, Beaver Nuggets. No description needed.

Stand-up comic, podcaster, avid hunter, and UFC host Joe Rogan recently got to experience a Buc-ee’s gas station for the first time and captured it on social media.

Rogan is currently traveling in Texas, with a gig Saturday night at ACL Live at The Moody Theater. He posted his thoughts on Buc-ee’s on Thursday afternoon on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

As a host and fight commentator for UFC, Rogan was one of the first to speak with Ronda Rousey after her knockout victory over Bethe Correia of Brazil earlier this month in Rio de Janeiro.

It’s always fun to see someone from out of state interact with something that most Texans find so common place, like a gas station with dozens and dozens of gas pumps and all the jerky you could ever want.

Rogan credited his friend Ben O’Brien, a marketing manager with the Austin-based YETI coolers company for the tip on Buc-ee’s. It appears Rogan also got some bow hunting practice hunting in while in the Lone Star State as well.

He was likely at a Buc-ee’s in Central Texas, maybe in Bastrop, it appears.

Rogan exaggerated when he said there were “hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of pumps” but we all get the idea. No word if he was able to try out the gas station chain’s restrooms, touted for their cleanliness.

The wall of candy at Buc-ee’s amazed him as well. He also got a kick out of pickled quail eggs within feet of “the 10,000,000 candlepower hog hunting flashlight and the camouflage women’s lingerie.”

“I’m not making any of this up,” he says in one video clip on Instagram.

WARNING: Graphic language …

Rogan will get another run at Buc-ee’s when he plays Houston’s House of Blues on Oct. 2. He plays two shows that night.

Maybe he’ll offer up some Beaver Nuggets at the merchandise table.

AUCKLAND, New Zealand, Aug. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ –

Great news for all those people who are excited by the fashions they are seeing at New Zealand Fashion Week. The world’s first designer incontinence lingerie collection strutted out in style at New Zealand Fashion Week in Auckland today.

Confitex launched its global brand in a solo show featuring its premium Hi-Life range. And what a launch it was. This is the first time, anywhere worldwide, that incontinence underwear has graced a catwalk as a designer range. The very idea has been the one ‘everyone’s talking about’ coming into the event, with New Zealand paper the Herald on Sunday last week even questioning whether a runway was the right place for incontinence.

Confitex’s Hi-Life Collection debut showcased 30 looks ranging from day-time wear, to softer evening lingerie, to the first G-string designed for light incontinence. The brand’s resounding message of ‘don’t hold back from living your life’ is bound to lift the spirits and lifestyles of the one in four people globally who suffer from incontinence.

A bladder behaving badly is no reason for people not to make the most of every day, says designer and co-founder Frantisek Riha-Scott. “Our underwear is beautiful, environmentally responsible and made for people with a love of life and adventure.”

Confitex’s patented textile-based technology is a three-layered system that provides absorbent, waterproof, pad-less washable underwear for men and women. Developed by New Zealanders Dr Mark Davey and Frantisek Riha-Scott it took three years of research and development to create the underwear range that actually looks like real underwear.

“Our consumers refuse to live in a padded world. Why on earth should they? Not everyone wants to feel ‘protected’. We’ve developed these products for people who love style and design and who want the clothes they’re wearing to express who they are.

“People who happen to have incontinence should be able to enjoy their lifestyle, freedom and independence. Our goal is to give those that want it the means to get out there, do what they want to do and see who they want to see,” says Dr Davey.
