She is a loving wife, a caring mother and an amazing and good-looking model, but she is a 29-year-old woman who spends her days in a wheelchair.

Rachelle Friedman Chapman, who hails from North Carolina in the US, got paralysed after an accident that happened during her bachelorette party in May 2010. She was then known as “the paralysed bride” all over the globe.

Now she has again hogged the limelight for a powerful photo shoot in Victoria’s Secret lingerie with her catheter and is in a mission to glamourise disability and to show disabled people can also look sexy.

“This was the first summer I put on a bikini since the accident and I want people to know you don’t have to hide; you can still be sexy,” Rachelle told People.

After her photos went viral on social media, Rachelle has been appreciated by many for her bold moves.

During her hen party, after a friend playfully pushed her to the swimming pool, Rachelle’s head hit and she also received a spinal cord injury, which left her paralysed from the chest down.

Five years after the accident, Rachelle is now married to Chris Chapman and the couple have a two-month-old baby Kaylee, born through surrogacy.

A source told The Sun: “Michelle is thrilled and delighted. She proves strong, independent women in business have a vital role to play in our economy .

“And she will bring something new to the stuffy Lords. It needs shaking up.”

• Force peers to retire when they reach old age, Lord Speaker suggests

Mone, from Glasgow, announced earlier this year that she was leaving Scotland after becoming caught up in an “extremely vitriolic social media hate campaign” due to her vocal support of the Union during the independence debate.

The 43-year-old, said to be worth £20 million, was awarded an OBE for her contribution to business in 2010.

In an interview last month Mone was asked about her proudest moment so far.

She told the newspaper: “Probably all the inventions I’ve created. I helped the Prime Minister with the referendum and in keeping the Union together. That was tough, but it had the most rewarding results.

“Also, receiving my OBE from the Queen. I never, ever thought I would get anything like that.”

SNP MP Stewart McDonald, who represents Glasgow South, said on Twitter: “Yes, Michelle Mone is a successful entrepreneur, but to become a national legislator overnight without the fuss of an election is obscene.”

A Downing Street spokesman declined to comment on the report.
