Dana Donofree knows first-hand what it’s like to battle breast cancer and desperately search for underwear that’s comfortable and makes you feel like you again.

The day before her 28th birthday, and two months before her wedding in 2010, Dana was diagnosed with infiltrative ductal carcinoma, a type of breast cancer.

She spent the next year in and out of hospital, going through a bilateral mastectomy, reconstructive surgery and gruelling chemotherapy sessions.

She told Elite Daily: ‘I spent an entire year dedicated and focused on beating breast cancer. In and out of surgeries, in and out [of] chemo treatments, dealing with the side effects, and trying to navigate through this world that I knew nothing about.’

The treatment worked and she thought her life would return to normal. But, she explains, ‘The part that no one prepares you for is this life after cancer, the ‘new normal.’ I struggle with even using these words in this context, because nothing you do feels or seems normal [after cancer].’

One of the hardest parts was coming to terms with her new body, and discovering her body no longer fitted traditional bras.

So, she set about turning the ‘new normal’ into a new business, and a way of inspiring other survivors.

A fashion and design graduate from Savannah College of Art and Design, she refused to be ‘sentenced to the life of sports bras and…. utilitarian beige bras.’

Dana created AnaOno, a range of affordable lingerie made specifically for breast cancer survivors. The brand’s slogan is ‘you are never alone’.

The bras are made without underwire, using super-soft, stretchy fabric that fits all needs and breast surgeries.

Strategically placed seams avoid scar tissue and different closure options ensure easy removal and post-op comfort.

Most importantly, the underwear is beautiful.

The bras are priced between $48 (£31) and $58 (£37), and 10 per cent of all sales go to breast cancer foundations.

All the brand’s models are real women who’ve survived cancer, which is the most important thing for Dana.

For her, it’s all about making women feel beautiful, proud, and courageous. Most of all, she wants them to know they’re never alone.

Woman Steals $250 Worth of Lingerie From Target, Gets Her Own Name Wrong …

According to Somerville Police, a 20-year-old Cambridge woman was caught stealing undergarments from Target, and proceeded to have an unusually difficult time giving accurate information about her identity.

The arrest report says Shonda R. Coleman was spotted at the 180 Somerville Ave. retail chain store arbitrarily grabbing items from the lingerie aisle and tossing them in her shopping carriage. Then she attempted to leave the store without paying for the items – which totaled more than $250 – and was stopped by the loss prevention officer.

Upon police’s arrival, she told them her name was Tiana Goode, and claimed to be both 17 and 18 years old at different points in the conversation, say police. The registry of motor vehicles database did not confirm her identity. She also told police that her mother works at a Macy’s in the Watertown Mall, which officers found to be a non-existent store.

After her arrest and booking at the station, police confronted Coleman about her inconsistent statements. She explained that Tiana Goode is the name she usually goes by, though not her legal name. None the less, Coleman was charged with larceny of more than $250 and furnishing a false name.
