Style Rider: Holychild Likes Slinky Lingerie and Dudes’ Sportswear

Alt-electro duo Holychild’s debut EP, Mindspeak, which came out last spring and has been on constant rotation since, is full of sweet, addictive pop morsels. It’s no coincidence that the album art is a chocolate doughnut covered in rainbow sprinkles, or that the band’s new music video for their latest single, “Running Behind,” shows them nibbling on candy-colored sugar cookies. But make no mistake: What Holychild is putting out is nothing like the bubblegum pop of your youth.

“We make music and visuals that are accessible but at the same time a little weird or experimental—we call it ‘brat pop,’” says singer Liz Nistico, who co-writes all the tracks with producer Louie Diller. “That applies to my personal style, too. What I wear is so expressive and it really mirrors my current emotions.” Similar to their tunes, Liz’s on-stage style is sweet—pastel faux fur tops the list of things she can’t live without—but it’s anything but saccharine.

The twosome just wrapped up a tour opening for MØ (another lady whose style is as rad as her voice), and will be kicking off a residency at The Echo in LA in the new year. Here’s what Liz will be bringing along with her when that happens.

“I’m really into pastel faux-fur. In general, textures are very important when it comes to my wardrobe, and I really love incorporating a faux-fur jacket or furry little earring balls into my outfits. I’m currently digging this Pom’s Jewelry choker.”

“Um, how cute is he?! I am often wearing sportswear in some way, track pants or basketball shorts with a crop top and I subtly (maybe not so much…) encourage Louie to wear sports clothes too! I just think guys look good in workout clothes.”

“I’ve recently been acquiring a bunch of vintage night gowns and robes and I love pairing them with things already in my closet. An outfit I’m pretty keen on is track pants and a nightie on top! This is inspired by the stylist Devin Winter. I’m actually wearing her vintage nightie in the pic. Regardless I love mixing the texture of a thin silk dress with something harder.”

It looked like Christmas had come early for hot new Made In Chelsea couple Stephanie Pratt and Josh Shepherd on Saturday when they left a West London boutique with bags full of lingerie.

The smitten duo smooched outside Boux Avenue at London’s Westfield shopping centre after picking out handfuls of early gifts.

Josh, roped in to aid decision-making, appeared to be taking the job very seriously as he supported girlfriend Stephanie while she waded through rails of lace and satin undergarments.

The pair matched each other perfectly in casual all-black ensembles, with The Hills star Stephanie looking leggy in a pair of small shorts.

While keeping warm in a fur-lined coat, the blonde bombshell hinted at her frame through thin tights, looking utterly distracted by her beau as they made strides through the shopping centre.

Inside the saucy shop, Stephanie held up a pink silk camisole with lace detailing as boyfriend Josh mulled over the choice carefully before directing her to other garments with a pointed finger.

Clearly in the mood to make some big purchases, Stephanie carried a basket around with her before the Made In Chelsea pair departed with four big bags.

Josh, MIC’s newest recruit, looked rugged with a low V-neck T-shirt and full facial hair as he assumed boyfriend duties on a relaxed day of shopping with her American beauty.

Despite picking out handfuls of skimpy lingerie, the duo spent their Saturday night in wearing matching animal print onesies.

Stephanie and Josh have been dating since the Hollywood-native found a home in London’s Chelsea and spurned former flame Stevie Johnson for his close friend Josh.
