Christina Viviani

Christina Viviani“The name comes from the idea that we all have a sexual résumé,” explained Christina Viviani, the designer behind Curriculum Vitae, a new lingerie line launching this Thursday at Barneys, with arrivals at Colette, 10 Corso Como, Moda Operandi, and more to follow. The Detroit-raised designer spent ten years polishing her skills at Donna Karan and Adrienne Vittadini before moving into the realm of intimates last year. “No one was really doing a cooler, younger version of Kiki,” she explained. “I’m dressing for myself and designing for myself—for the downtown girl.”

The line is made up of New York-manufactured below-14th basics: street-influenced racer tanks in black silk with matching silk boxers; simple mesh bikini bottoms; and sheer, white-lace onesies with materials sourced from Italy and Japan. An exclusive first look at the collection, which is priced between $30 and $400 debuts here. “We use a lot of rose-gold hardware, bodysuits with a snap, sleep sets with cutouts on the back…They’re kind of luxury-quality essentials,” noted Viviani of the clean, Bowery-with-a-hint-of-vamp wares. They’re for a girl “with more of an edge—she’s wearing [the line] with her Alexander Wang, with Proenza,” said the designer.

That’s not to say the pieces don’t hold classic appeal. “I’m really inspired by a lot of vintage references and the way construction was made back then. I want to take that and make it modern,” said Viviani, who grew up watching black-and-white favorites (“The movie Pillow Talk with Doris Day was a really big thing”) with her grandparents before moving to New York to study at FIT at 17.

CV also has a lifestyle component: Viviani traveled the world meeting with high-end sex toy artisans before curating a collection of globally sourced and personally designed sex accessories. “That was really fun—and a big learning curve,” said Viviani, who touched down in Berlin, L.A., Las Vegas, and San Francisco on the way. “Meeting different people and learning the art behind sensuality—you go into these conventions at 9 a.m. and it’s like, be awake!” CV will sell toys on its site, as well as discreet (you could hardly tell what they were if you didn’t look twice) pleasure kits in the rooms of the Chateau Marmont, Standard Hotels, and the Mercer, among others. “Three condoms, lube, and a vibrator…that’s all you really need in a hotel room. Let’s be honest,” she joked.

“I think I’m just excited for it to launch and kind of understand the customer more and see the reaction,” mused Viviani. “It’s kind of like being an artist and showing your work in a gallery for the first time.”

Meet Germany’s World Cup hero and his lingerie-model girlfriend

He’s the baby-faced assassin who shattered Argentina’s World Cup dream. But what do you know about Germany’s little-known national hero, Mario Goetze?

In the 113th minute of Sunday’s World Cup final, Goetze calmly slotted home the winner for a 1-0 victory in extra time — sending a nation wild.

Is he just a kid?

Not quite. Goetze is 22 but looks 12.

Did he even start Sunday’s match?

No, the attacking midfielder didn’t come on until the 88th minute, replacing star striker Miroslav Klose — the greatest World Cup scorer of all time.

Goetze’s winner came in the 113th minute and he described the historic moment as “an unbelievable feeling.”

“I don’t know how to describe it. You just score that goal and you don’t really know what’s happening after that.

“It’ll be a party with the whole team and the country. It’s a dream come true to win the World Cup, especially in Brazil.”

Wait! That’s not his girlfriend, is it?

Indeed it is.

The little guy (5 feet 9, 139 pounds) is dating model and singer Ann-Kathrin Vida Brommel.

He was sure to thank her after the win.

“It hasn’t been a simple year for me or a simple tournament. I owe a lot to my family and my girlfriend, who always believed in me.”

Why has he had a tough year?

Goetze struggled to hold down a starting place in his maiden campaign at German giant Bayern Munich.

He’s the second most expensive German player ever. That can’t be right?

Believe it or not, Goetze joined Bayern last year for $53.91 million.

The only other German who has ever demanded a higher fee is his national-team teammate, Mesut Ozil, who joined Arsenal for a club record $72.73 million.

Where has he come from?

Goetze joined German club Borussia Dortmund as an 8-year-old and stayed with the team right through his teens, making his Bundesliga debut five years ago. He was a key member of the Dortmund team that won the league in 2010-11 before leaving his boyhood club to join Bayern Munich, winning the league again this year.

How long has he been a part of the national team?

A long while, actually. He made his debut way back in November 2010, at 18 years of age. Goetze has 35 caps for Germany and 11 goals — none more important than Sunday’s.

What else had he done this World Cup?

Not much at all. He was left on the bench for the 7-1 drubbing of Brazil in the semifinals.

He was quiet in the 4-0 opening thumping of Portugal, then scored Germany’s opening goal with his knee, having mistimed his header in the 2-2 draw against Ghana.

Joachim Loew brought him off the bench late in the 1-0 win over the US, and he played just the first half of the 2-1 extra-time win over Algeria in the last 16.

He only came on for the last seven minutes of the 1-0 quarterfinal victory over France, but will be now be remembered for deciding the final on his return to Rio.
