Former Corrie star Helen Flanagan has lost out on a £1million deal with Ultimo lingerie.

She had been in talks to model a new range of underwear but contract negotiations came to an abrupt halt when just days after the Sandy Hook shootings in the US – which claimed the lives of 20 children and six adults – Helen posted a picture online with a gun pressed to her head.

A TV source said: “Helen was set to be the face of the brand, not just in the UK but in Europe and worldwide, but after seeing those pictures, Ultimo bosses were horrified and were left with no choice but to drop talks.”

A contestant on last year’s I’m A Celebrity, Helen posted the snap, in which she is dressed in a lacy black bra, on the day of the first funerals of gunman Adam Lanza’s victims.

The 22-year-old actress, who is dating Manchester City footballer Scott Sinclair, told ITV1’s Daybreak last month that her decision to post the picture was the “stupidest” thing she had ever done.

She said: “It was just a completely out of context tweet. I did the tweet and it was relating to a hangover. I treated this picture completely carelessly, like it was the stupidest thing I’ve ever done.”

She added: “I absolutely hated myself for it. I am incredibly sorry. I just could not be more sorry… my heart bleeds for the families.” Helen pledged to “learn the lessons from this”. But just this week, animal lovers were horrified when she posted a photo of a cat, which needed to have its nose and ears removed to save him from skin cancer, claiming it was how she felt when her boyfriend went out without her.

Last night a spokesman for the star said: “Helen has not had any formal offers that have been cancelled.” Ultimo was unavailable for comment.

Lingerie Football League Undergoes Rebranding

The Lingerie Football League recently hit a crossroads, according to its founder and chairman, Mitchell S. Mortaza.

The league has been gaining popularity since it was started in 2009, but its skimpy uniforms and sexualized branding were hurting its credibility. So the league has decided to go in a new direction.

Gone is the name Lingerie Football League. The acronym LFL remains, but now it stands for Legends Football League.

The uniforms are undergoing some changes as well, but as you can see from the photo here, the league isn’t exactly abolishing the scanty look.

The league wrote in a press release that it is scrapping the “lingerie” aspects of the uniform and adding “performance wear” while also redesigning shoulder pads to add protection for players. In addition to the one above, here are some more photos of the new “uniforms,” so you can decide for yourself whether they’re still lingerie or not. Perhaps this is all semantics as the league’s hook continues to be mining the intersection of football and sex appeal.

After expanding to Canada last year, the league has plans to start play in Australia this year and Europe in 2015.

“In the coming years we will further establish this sport in the US, Australia, Europe and Asia as the most known form of American football globally,” Mortaza said. “In order to reach the next milestone, we feel the focus has to be the sport and our amazing athletes.”

With the addition of the Atlanta Steam and the Omaha Heart in 2013, the Legends Football League will have 12 teams based in the United States in addition to four in Canada.
