New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we’ve asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic city that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We’re about to get a little help from our friends.

Fashion and beauty expert Mary Alice Stephenson has served as fashion director and editor for top magazines like Vogue, Allure, Marie Claire, and Harper’s Bazaar. She’s also the creator of GLAM4GOOD, a philanthropic initiative that has worked with thousands of veterans and at-risk teens and women. Naturally, she has a good eye, and when she’s looking for lingerie, she heads to Burlap, a shop on Henry Street.

This Brooklyn gem has the chicest pieces to accent every aspect of your life. Located in Cobble Hill, Burlap is a one-stop-shop for everyone on your list! I live in their lingerie, love their beauty products, and die for their diamonds. You’ll find the coolest indie brands to dress you and your man head-to-toe, and even cute stuff for the kids! For all you yummy mummies out there, go to Burlap to get your sexy on in a sophisticated way. The Stella McCartney lingerie will drive your man crazy and the hot Hanro slips double as sensual sleepwear or smooth underpinnings. I love the Elle Macpherson bras and panties because they are lacy and racy but with enough support for us curvy girls.
