Ann Summers has launched the world’s first interactive lingerie app which allows customers to virtually try on items from the underwear retailer’s latest collection.

The BlippTease app, which has been created in partnership with image recognition platform Blippar, works by layering the user’s chosen product over the camera on their smartphone.

Customers can then take a picture of themselves ‘wearing’ the underwear and have the option to share the picture with friends via social media networks.

The item can then be purchased online via the app, which is currently being promoted in all Ann Summers stores as well as its catalogues.

‘Our BlippTease campaign gives the customer so much more when choosing the perfect underwear – it also helps male shoppers find the perfect solution for that special present or spontaneous treat,’ says Ann Summers brand director Fiona Davis.

‘This is the way forward and we hope it can evolve into bigger and better things for the consumer.’

Ann Summers’ sales have increased dramatically in in recent months due to the popularity of its ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ inspired range.

Meanwhile sales of its lingerie and toys have increased by 28% in the past year while online sales have risen by 71 per cent.

Ann Summers have been trading for 30 years but has faced competition in recent years from online sex retailers like Lovehoney.co.uk as the British sex industry experiences a boom in sales.

They seemed to spend a bit of time talking to those builders for an app that’s meant for women! Publicity seeking only. I bet the app is nothing special.

Them men that have there arms around the models have obviously been paid or our models themselves. I don’t know ANY men that would put there arms around random women, specially when there just in undies.

But the whole point of trying something on is to see if I actually fits, compliments your body and feels/looks good! Seems like a gimmicky app.

I wonder what it feels like to have the confidence to walk down the street in just your undies? Amazing probably.

She’s never been backwards at coming forwards.

So it shall come as no surprise to fans that Bethenny Frankel flashed her bra as she promoted a clothing range in New York tonight.

And while there were models at hand for her fashion show in Macy’s, it seems the Real Housewives personality preferred taking things into her own hands.

She was promoting her Skinnygirls Solutions range of underwear, and the 41-year-old seemed hell-bent on doing whatever was necessary to get it noticed.

And she certainly achieved her aim when she ripped open her blouse to show off her bra in front of the stunned audience.

Bethenny will no doubt be hoping her display will persuade punters that her lingerie ‘for real women’ lives up to its billing.

She said: ‘It’s lazy lingerie… you can wear it under a blazer or a cardigan and then take it off for a hot date or your husband.’

Bethenny was only one of the stars who went to Macy’s Herald to celebrate the launch of New York Fashion Week.

The Bachelorette star Emily Maynard, who hosted the Benefit Cosmetics Beauty Best Or Bust Party hosted at Macy’s, also attended alongside Keeping Up With the Kardashians beefcake Scott Disick.

I love Bethanny and Bravo to her for making her ideas into big cash but I bought one of her shapers and the underwire popped out on one side and some of the elastic frayed. I really wanted to support her on this too but not good quality.

Lol, I saw an episode of that show she’s on once, she said she gets paid thousands of dollars to do public appearances but was making an exception for this particular one where she was giving out free samples of her cookie range in what appeared to be an American equivalent of a BQ store. She got a bit annoyed when none of the shoppers showed any interest in her wares and started getting stroppy with passers by for no reason, saying things like “Would you like to try a cookie? no didnt think so.”

I only watched their show if I want to get a headache but I secretly wonder why do these New Yorkers have to be so loud, brash, show off, ignorant and out of touch? In the UK they will be ignored or made fun of or even told to shut up. Maybe they need a dozage of polite, respectful, undermining and discreet London touch.

What a cheap attention seeker she is. No doubt her standards are much lower than this: this is just what the public get to see.
