A lingerie business which was formerly Woods of Morecambe and has been trading in the town since 1918 will be moving premises at the start of next month.

The Bra Shop however will only be moving next door to 299, Marine Road Central, into the former Cheeky Monkeys toy shop from April 1.

Owner Claire Timmis said: “I’m feeling really positive, we wouldn’t bother moving if there wasn’t a need for what we do. We provide a good service and we not only have loyal customers but new customers as well.”

The Bra Shop prides itself on the fact they offer free fitting, one of the only independent lingerie businesses in the area that offers this service.

Claire said: “Fitting is more of a guide, you can measure a 36C but it doesn’t mean it will fit because every bra is different. It’s more about fitting the bra to you as an individual person. Not every shape will suit every lady – as an individual you find what you want and need from a bra.

“From the time you need your first bra, you need a bra that is comfortable and to look after your breasts.

“My mum took me to be fitted for my first bra and I’ve got a daughter and would like to think I would educate her to go and have a fitting.” The Bra Shop also offers a discreet mastectomy bra fitting service to ladies who need it.

Woods of Morecambe traditionally traded as a lingerie business for older women, but The Bra Shop now stock an extensive range of bras, lingerie and nightwear to suit all ages.

Claire said: “We are introducing new ranges for younger customers who need lingerie too. We have spent time and money investing in younger brands and have made a concerted effort to have something for every shape and size.

“We sell everything you would need under your clothing and to go to bed.

“Customers have been really pleased and gone out with nice bras.”
