3 charged in burglary of Lakeview store – WLS

Three suspects have been charged in connection to a retail theft in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood.

Ratero Walker, 19, of the 14400 block of Dorchester; Deavin S. Oliver, 21, of the 8200 block of S. Richmond; and Aaliyah Foster, 20, of the 8200 block of S. Richmond were arrested and charged.

They are accused of burglarizing Taboo Tabou in the 800 block of W. Belmont.

The store’s security camera captured the brazen robbery just after 7 p.m. Sunday. Surveillance video shows the thieves entering the adult toy and lingerie shop, almost immediately grabbing products. Minutes later, one of the suspects can be seen pushing a store worker — who tried to stop them — out of the way as the robbers fled with bags packed with merchandise worth more than $500.

Police arrested the suspects at the CTA’S Belmont red line stop when they ran to the “L” to get away.

“They kind of just mobbed my girls and made it so they couldn’t control the floor,” said Alexis Thomas, co-owner of Taboo Tabou.

The shop is one of nearly a half dozen Lakeview neighborhood stores recently targeted by a band of thieves in one night.

The robberies have left business owners upset. They say police aren’t doing enough to curb crime in the area.

“A lot of the problems we have in Lakeview crime is, we’re missing our foot police officers,” said Mark Thomas, co-owner of Taboo Tabou.

Thomas – who closed his popular store The Alley last month and owns Taboo Tabou with his daughter – says the suspects were part of a group of 10 to 12 thieves that hit up the other stores, even supposedly ripping off a tip jar from a corner coffee shop.

Police have not confirmed if the three suspects in custody are involved in the other thefts.

The crimes mirror what stats appear to show a decrease in robberies but an increase in burglaries. According to the Chicago Police Department COMPSTAT data, so far, there have been 645 burglaries in January 2016, compared to 568 in January 2015 – an 11 percent increase. Thefts in 2016 are actually down by 2 percent: 512 in January 2016 compared with 522 in January 2015.

She began her career as an esteemed fashion model.

And despite Amber Valletta’s successful move to acting, she proved she still knows how to work it on a magazine cover as she smouldered on the front of Porter magazine.

The 41-year-old beauty went for a pared-back look for the minimalist shoot in which she wore a series of lingerie inspired gowns and hardly any make-up.

While Amber is a picture of health now, she previously spoke about her battle with addiction during a live talk for MindBodyGreen.com, a site that helps people live better, healthier lives.

‘I had a multi-million dollar deal and I showed up the first day to shoot this campaign high and drunk. I didn’t care,’ confessed the mother-of-one. ‘And that’s to just show you addiction takes you to the worst places’.Valletta said her addiction started at an early age, and it took her 17 years to seek help.

‘When I was about eight I would sniff markers, glue, and nail polish – anything that could give me a buzz. Then I found drugs. By age 10, I think I had been high… And by the time I was 18, I moved to Europe and found cocaine and alcohol.’
