The price of a blowout wedding in 1947? A staggering $2500

In the late 1940s, a large wedding cost about $2,500 and took three months to plan. Wedding gifts were displayed at the reception and a bride might have to be “packed in ice” before the ceremony “if the day is very hot and she is very nervous!”
