VS model labelled too fat for show

Former Victoria’s Secret model Erin Heatherton has spoken out about how the lingerie brand pressured her to lose weight, triggering her battle with depression.

The 27-year-old, who is also actor Leonardo DiCaprio’s ex girlfriend, left Victoria’s Secret in 2013 after 5 years of strutting the catwalk for the brand’s elaborate lingerie shows.

“My last two Victoria’s Secret shows, I was told I had to lose weight,” she told news and popular culture site Motto. “I look back like, ‘Really?’”

The model says she began a strict regime of working out twice a day and watching what she ate, but in preparing for the 2013 show, her body “just wouldn’t do it.”

“I was really depressed because I was working so hard and I felt like my body was resisting me,” she says. “And I got to a point where one night I got home from a workout and I remember staring at my food and thinking maybe I should just not eat.”

“I realised I couldn’t go out into the world – parading my body and myself in front of all these women who look up to me – and tell them that this is easy and simple and everyone can do this.”

Heatherton, who has featured in campaigns for the likes of Valentino, Karl Lagerfeld, Versace and Dolce Gabbana, says she fell into depression following her association with Victoria’s Secret.

The model, who has shared candid posts on Instagram about her body image struggles, says she decided to tell her story in the hope that it will help other women.

“I’m willing to sacrifice my pride, in a sense, and my privacy because I know that if I don’t speak about it, I could be withholding information that would really help women,” she says. “It hurts too much to keep it in, and that’s why I’m not keeping it in now.”

She dated Leonardo DiCaprio from 2011 to 2012, and is now in a relationship with Australian musician Felix Boxsom.

Supermodel Carolyn Murphy flaunts her ageless beauty and flawless figure in a sexy lingerie-inspired shoot as she reveals that she has been ‘cast as every blonde icon’ over the course of her illustrious career.

The 41-year-old donned a mod black and white Prada dress while posing in a swimming pool for the cover of the May issue of Town Country, which was shot by controversial photographer Terry Richardson.

‘I’ve been cast as every blonde icon, you name it: Grace Kelly, Romy Schneider, Carolyn told the magazine. ‘But what’s interesting to me now is what lies behind the façade of the photo—this idea of being American, and what that means, how that defines you.’

It looks as though time has stood still for Carolyn Murphy, the 41-year-old model who’s featured on the latest cover of Town Country. Modeling everything from a Prada dress to a Chanel one-piece swimsuit, the fashion icon still looks younger than her years.

We, at Fashion Finder, are currently obsessed with this pic of Carolyn in an Etro bra top and briefs which has us scouring the web for lookalikes. Bras, in particular longline bras (ones that cover more than the bustline) are having a moment. From strappy, to lace, the latest crop of bras can go from being classified as only underwear to pieces that can appropriately be visible from underneath a cardigan or blazer. Although this exact look isn’t yet available online, click right to browse the current collection.

In one of the image from the shoot, Carolyn is posed in a weight room as she models a strapless black swimsuit by Chanel and a pair of dangerously high Christian Louboutin stilettos featuring a T-strap.

The model’s natural-looking make-up highlights her classic beauty while her shoulder length golden blonde hair is tossed to the side.

Another photo sees her in wearing an Etro bra top and briefs as she stands in front of white bed. Unlike the previous picture, her hair is wet and falling in natural curls down her back.

Despite being in her early 40s, Carolyn can easily pass for a woman half her age.

However, after nearly three decades of being cast as the elegant or sexy blonde, the Sports Illustrated star said she sees the American woman as more than just her looks.

‘So often the American woman has been typified by a standard of outward beauty: blond hair, blue eyes, healthy build,’ she explained. ‘I see the evolution of the real American woman as being more about her spirit.

‘She can roll up her sleeves and get dirty. She can do it all—she is classy and she is casual. Neither holds more importance than the other, and the beauty is in her effortlessness.’

Carolyn was spotted by a modeling scout at the tender age of 15 and headed to Paris before spending her spring with Ford Models founder Eileen Ford during her senior year of high school.

By 1998 the rising runway star was named VH1/Vogue’s Model of the Year, and nearly 20 years later her career is still thriving, scoring campaigns with both Oscar de la Renta and UGG in 2015.

In addition to her work as a model, Carolyn is raising Dylan, her 15-year-old daughter with her ex-husband Jake Schroeder.

While it may be difficult to grow up having a supermodel mother, Carolyn told Harper’z Bazaar last year that she stresses to Dylan that ‘a lot of what you see in the magazines isn’t real’.

Day date: Carolyn and her boyfriend Lincoln Pilcher are picture walking around New York City in 2014

‘If there’s a zit, a bag, a little extra thigh, they’ll be like, “Don’t worry, we’ll take care of that,’” she said.

Although she knows there is no such thing as perfect, Carolyn does follow an extensive beauty regimen that includes ‘alkaline water, eight to 10 hours of sleep, biodynamic vegetables, frequent sauna sessions, Estée Lauder Youth-Dew, power crystals; and Transcendental Meditation’, which was taught to her by her boyfriend Lincoln Pilcher’s childhood friend.

Carolyn has also worked with an energy healer for more than 20 years, noting: ‘She’s one of my secrets to staying sane.’

‘I don’t want to get all hoodoo guru about it,’ she added. ‘I gave birth to my daughter in the living room, but I’m not saying everyone should do that.’
