Everyone is still talking about that unretouched photo of 48-year-old Cindy Crawford that made the rounds over the weekend. But we haven’t heard a reaction yet from the most important person of all: Cindy Crawford.

On Friday British journalist Charlene White sent the photo out into the world on Twitter, saying “I thought I would tweet the picture because I found it incredibly empowering to see someone as beautiful and iconic as Cindy Crawford in her natural form.”

The picture came from a 2013 shoot for Marie Claire Mexico and Latin America. The photo, which shows Crawford without the benefit of Photoshop, was never published.

Addressing the photo, Marie Claire posted that the leaked photo reveals “a body that defies expectations – it is real, it is honest, and it is gorgeous.

“No matter where the photo came from, it’s an enlightenment — we’ve always known Crawford was beautiful, but seeing her like this only makes us love her more.”

The picture unleashed a torrent of support and congratulations all over social media, mostly from women who were ecstatic to see a supermodel looking super-real.

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis, a long-time crusader for positive body image, reposted the photo next to an unretouched one of herself in her underwear tweeting: “Bravo Cindy Crawford. Beauty is truth, truth beauty, that is all Ye need to know on earth, and all Ye need to know.”

Crawford herself has so far remained silent so we don’t know whether she’s as proud of that image as everyone else is. We hope that she is.

She has spoken in the past about how her body has changed over time, telling Marlo Thomas in a 2012 interview that, “I’m happy with my body … but it’s not my old body. I had both of my children at home, naturally. In some ways I appreciate my body more now because I know what it’s capable of.”

After the image went viral over the weekend Crawford’s husband, Rande Gerber, posted a photo of his gorgeous wife lounging poolside in a bikini – stomach and thighs taut and toned, sans cellulite, wrinkles or any other natural signs of aging. Exactly the way we’ve seen her in magazines.

“She got flowers and I got her. Happy Valentines Day @cindycrawford!” Gerber wrote.

Cindy Crawford has been flooded with messages of praise after an unretouched lingerie shot of the supermodel from 2013 surfaced online on Friday.

The runway beauty and mother of two posed for a photoshoot for Marie Claire’s Mexico and Latin America publication two years ago, but one image, showing Crawford with a less-than-smooth stomach and slight cellulite on her thighs, made waves over the weekend as fans hailed the leak for showing a real woman in her natural state.

Initial reports suggested the snap would be used in the April edition of the magazine, but editors have since clarified the claims, insisting it was just an outtake from their December 2013 cover story.

Confirming the authenticity of the photo, Marie Claire bosses write, “It is real, it is honest, and it is gorgeous.

“No matter where the photo came from, it’s an enlightenment – we’ve always known Crawford was beautiful, but seeing her like this only makes us love her more.”

And fans seemed to approve – they flocked to social media to celebrate 48-year-old Crawford’s beauty, flaws and all.

One Twitter.com user wrote, “She looks even more beautiful than ever,” while another tweeted, “I hope I look like this at 48 after 2 kids!”

Another simply cheered, “Yes!!! My respect for her is on another level.”

Crawford has yet to comment on the leaked snap, but she previously revealed the importance of self-acceptance and self-confidence, saying, “I really think – at any age – it’s learning to be comfortable in your own skin. If women would treat themselves with the same kind of love they give to their friends, that would be such a great gift we could give ourselves. What makes you the most attractive is self-confidence. That’s what people see.”

Her husband, Rande Gerber, shared his own bikini photo of Crawford on Saturday to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

In the sweet, timely Instagram snap, he wrote, “She got flowers and I got her. Happy Valentines Day.”
