Kerry Bristow, who studied fashion and textiles at Shrewsbury College of Arts Technology, graduated in July and has now launched new business Goddess Lingerie.

The 40-year-old, from Dolanog, near Llanfair Caereinion, Powys, put her dreams of becoming a fashion designer on hold when she had her children, Emma, now 19 and Laura, 15.

But at the age of 38 she decided the time was right to return to learning and embarked on the two-year college course.

After creating a range of lingerie for her final assessment, Kerry realised there was a gap in the market for individual, tailored underwear and set about developing a luxury brand with an emphasis on personal service.

Goddess Lingerie now offers a range of handmade, luxury underwear and nightwear with a choice of off-the-peg garments, as well as bespoke designs made from silks, satins and lace.

Kerry, who also runs a successful cleaning business, Domestic Goddess, said: “I want to make every woman feel special and offer a full service from design to creation in a perfect fit. Goddess Lingerie is about the entire package, it’s an experience – from the initial consultation through to the final fitting.

“This is my dream. I’ve always wanted a career in fashion but took a step back to start a family. Now the children are older I have been able to go back to something I love, creating beautiful, handmade designs that truly bring out the inner goddess in any woman.”

Mr Power, who lives with his wife Maureen in the Bradway area of Sheffield,
launched Panache in 1982 after working for Playtex.

A spokeswoman for Panache said: “Mr Power is a self-made man who founded
International brand Panache over 30 years ago and which now employs over 120
people locally.

“As a close, family-run company, this incident has come as a big shock to
the business and our thoughts and prayers are with the Power family at this
difficult and private time.”

Mr Power, left his position as managing director in 2007 and John Power, one
of his two sons, replaced him. His other son Danny is the company’s business
development director. He also has two daughters and grandchildren.

One local resident in the Bradway area said Mr Power was well known locally
and added : “He is a very successful businessman and it’s awful that
such a thing could happen to an elderly man.”

A 30-year-old local man from Darnall, Sheffield, has been charged with
attempted murder and robbery and has been remanded in custody.
