Heidi Klum is following fellow supermodel Elle Macpherson into the underwear business by launching her own lingerie line.

The German beauty has signed a deal with the company which helped her catwalk rival launch the hugely successful Elle Macpherson Intimates range back in 1990.

Macpherson is moving forward with her lingerie line without New Zealand-based firm Bendon, but the company is replacing her line with a fresh range from Klum, who tells Wwd.com, “You know, 25 years, that’s quite an empire and that’s quite an amazing business that Elle has created with Bendon… I hope that people will hear that I took over and I hope that they’re happy about it. It wasn’t me knocking at the door saying I want to take over. It was offered to me.”

The two collections, Heidi Klum Intimates and Heidi by Heidi Klum, are set to be launched in January.
