15 Most Expensive Pieces of Lingerie EVER

15. In 2010, BodyRock Sport collaborated with designer Joseph Knight of Knight Hammer on this $1,850 sports bra. The chains detach to make a necklace and matching charm bracelet, so it’s really like three pieces in one.
14. This silk kimono robe by Carine Gilson is currently available at NancyMeyer.com for $2,398. Admit it, you’ve been looking for a way to make taking out the garbage in the morning more glamorous.
13. In April 2014, Nate D. Sanders auctioned off a “custom-made” black lace push-up bra and matching thong supposedly worn by Julia Roberts in Erin Brockovich for $3,050. The best thing about this particular auction is the “Certificate of Authenticity” the website claims was issued by Universal Studios, but which was obviously printed on a home computer circa 1994. The gold star sticker is an especially nice touch, don’t you think?
12. In 2012 PETA India auctioned off all the costumes from the Bollywood erotic thriller Jism 2 to help fund their homeless dog adoption campaign, including underwear worn by lead actress and former porn star Sunny Leone. PETA never disclosed exactly how much they made from the auction, but given how hugely popular Bollywood films are and how many weirdos there are willing to drop ridiculous amounts of money on used celebrity underwear (see above), you gotta imagine it was a lot.
11. According to USA Today, in 2008, the late Anna Nicole Smith’s former boyfriend, Larry Birkhead, paid $2,800 at auction for a set of lingerie worn by Smith during a Playboy shoot. At the time, Birkhead claimed the pink bustier and white negligee were intended as keepsakes for his and Smith’s then 1-year-old daughter, Dannielynn.
10. In 2013, Bordelle created a Christmas capsule collection for U.K. department store Selfridges, which included the “Roxelana Girdle Crystal Dress” for $4,700. I know the word “girdle” is a technical term, but I expect a sexier name for $4,700, especially for something this gorgeous.
9. In 2011, an anonymous bidder bought a red La Perla lingerie set worn by Kylie Minogue on the cover of her 2012 calendar for $7,950. Of course the bidder was anonymous. No doubt Christie’s, which conducted the auction to benefit Minogue’s StudyVox charity, prides itself on its discretion when it comes to the sale of pre-worn celebrity lingerie.
8. In 2013, a floor-length black negligee once belonging to Monica Lewinsky was sold at auction for just over $12,000 as part of a 33-piece collection of “memorabilia” that was submitted as evidence during the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal. According to The Huffington Post, Monica thought she’d get closer to $50,000 for the collection, which did not include her infamous blue dress but did include an unopened box of slightly crushed presidential MM’S.
7. In 2002, jeweler Uwe Koetter created a gold, pearl, and diamond chastity belt for a private client in South Africa for $20,000. This thing makes Samantha’s pearl thong look like a pair of pajama jeans. There is no way any woman would buy this for herself, meaning someone must have bought it for her, making this truly the worst gift ever.
6. In 2007, a lingerie show in Shenyang City, in northern China, featured a yellow gold lingerie set valued at more than $26,000. Apparently, the piece took over four months to make and was on display for three weeks, but never sold, shocking absolutely no one because, of course, that’s what happens when you try to sell expensive lingerie that hasn’t been worn by a celebrity.
5. In 2011, the sheer dress, bra, and briefs worn by Kate Middleton at a 2002 St. Andrews University fashion show attended by Prince William, sold at auction for over $125,000. Even the designer, Charlotte Todd (right), can’t help but laugh at how ridiculous this is.
4. In 2010, Bollywood actress Malaika Arora wore this ORRA diamond bustier by designer Anamika Khanna worth over $1 million. Is that thing lined? I’m having sympathy nipple pains just looking at it!
3. Although Victoria’s Secret has created many $1 million+ bras over the years as part of their “Fantasy” line, none were ever as extravagantly expensive as the $12.5 million diamond-encrusted bra worn by Heidi Klum in the 2001 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Honestly, it looks a little tight, but I guess it must be pretty pricey to go up a cup size when your bra is made of diamonds. #DiamondBraProblems
2. Although Heidi’s was the most expensive bra ever made, Gisele Bündchen’s ruby- and diamond-encrusted bra and underwear from the 2000 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, valued at $15 million, holds the record for the most expensive lingerie set ever made. The panty lines are a real bitch, but that’s the price you pay when you cover your underwear in rubies.
1. In 2012, Molly Sims modeled a diamond “bikini” designed by Susan Rosen in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue worth an estimated $30 million. Guinness World Records may put Victoria’s Secret on the top of the “Most Expensive Bras” list, but let’s get real, this is as much lingerie as it is a swimsuit. Heck, it’s as much dental floss as it is a swimsuit.

Tuesday, the Museum at FIT opens “Exposed: A History of Lingerie,” an exhibition exploring skivvies from the corseted 18th century to now. With some 70 delicate pieces pulled from the museum’s permanent collection, the show traces developments in ideology, silhouette and technological advancement to tell the story of unmentionables. The exhibit, which runs through Nov. 15, is sure to be a hit. (Museum at FIT, Seventh Avenue at 27th Street, visit fitnyc.edu for more info.)
To celebrate, we traced the cinematic experiences that helped shape the way we view lingerie. Because we doubt Mrs. Robinson would have won Ben over in a caftan, and no one would know about “Swordfish” if not for Halle Berry’s lace-covered assets.
From black-and-white sirens to modern-day starlets, here are the silver screen’s top lingerie moments.
Jean Harlow in “Dinner at Eight” (1933)
Photo: Everett Collection
In this art deco classic, the original blond bombshell plays a sassy, social-climbing housewife named Kitty. That’s about all you need to know, outside of the stunning boudoir wardrobe of lace-trimmed slips and ostrich-embellished robes.
The look lived another day in the pre-meltdown Britney Spears video for “Lucky.”
Elizabeth Taylor in “Butterfield 8” (1960)
Photo: Everett Collection
Taylor’s turn as fashion model Gloria Wandrous won the then-28-year-old actress her first Academy Award, and basically set the standard for knee-length teddies and sexily sipping cocktails after one-night stands.
Sophia Loren in “Marriage Italian Style” (1964)

As Filomena, a Neapolitan prostitute, Loren oozed Italian glamour and won the see-through fabric game 50 years before Rihanna did. Bam.
Anne Bancroft in “The Graduate” (1967)
Photo: Everett Collection
Who knew hosiery could be such a successful plot device? Bancroft’s Mrs. Robinson seduced us all with those signature semi-sheer stockings. The original cougar also had a hunger for animal prints, black lace and the bleeding hearts of men.
Catherine Deneuve “Belle de Jour” (1968)
Photo: Everett Collection
Iconic prostitute No. 2: Deneuve sizzled as Séverine Serizy in high-waisted panties and garters, generously supplied by her friend Yves Saint Laurent.
Tim Curry in “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” (1975)
Photo: 20th Century Fox/Everett Collection (2)
If anyone could give the ladies on this list a run for their money, it’s Curry’s cross-dressing madcap scientist Dr. Frank-N-Furter, who loved his corsets, fishnets and fingerless glittery gloves.
Jamie Lee Curtis in “True Lies” (1994)
Would you perform a striptease to save your child from terrorists?? If you have any doubts, behold the spoils of parental sacrifice and the black lace lingerie that floored us all.
Elizabeth Berkley in “Showgirls” (1995)
Warning: Graphic content
Though some of us never saw Elizabeth Berkley’s performance as anything short of tour-de-force, it took some time for the critically panned film to garner its cult following. When it comes to skimpy undies, the offerings are virtually endless. What’s your fave? Ours is the black silk Kyle MacLachlan lap dance negligee. It doesn’t stay on for long.
Nicole Kidman in “Eyes Wide Shut” (1999)
Photo: Warner Bros./Everett Collection
You may or may not have an idea about the plot, but know this: Kidman took a slinky ivory tank and panty set bordering on basic underwear and elevated it to minimal ’90s brilliance.
Halle Berry in “Swordfish” (2001)
Full disclosure: We never saw this movie. But we can tell you it was the lacy lingerie (and topless scene corollary) that put Halle Berry at the nippy-top of the A-list.
Kirsten Dunst in “Marie Antoinette” (2006)
Sofia Coppola’s film was full of Rococo corsetry, yet the best moment comes when Dunst entices Axel von Fersen (Jamie Dornan) with just a smirk, a fan and thigh-high stockings. Skip to 1:49 and see what we mean.
Marine Vacth in “Young Beautiful” (2013)
Photo: IFC Films
Iconic prostitute No. 3! In François Ozon’s “Jeune Jolie,” Vacth plays 17-year-old Isabelle, whose lurid story of sexual discovery is peppered occasionally with the sweetest, prettiest lingerie you ever did see.
