Former Lingerie League player picked for Australia

If the selectors for Australia’s women’s side for a forthcoming tri-nations tournament wanted to guarantee headlines then their selection of the uncapped Chloe Butler ensured just that.

Although the 26-year-old Butler is one of 15 uncapped players in the 26-woman squad, she is a familiar name to many. After a brief career in Australia during which time she played rugby, she moved to the USA where she starred as a wide receiver and defensive end for Los Angeles Temptation in the Lingerie Football League.

In 2013 Butler returned to Australia to help with the setting up of a similar venture in Australia at which point she returned to playing rugby.

The official Walleroos website describes Butler as having “experience in rugby union as well having played for the Parramatta Two Blues and impressed in last year’s National Women’s Championship in Sydney”.

It is hard not to feel some sympathy for the other 25 players as, through no fault of her own, what media attention the announcement of the squad will attract will centre on Butler and her time in the USA.

Dallas police: 36-year-old man fondled 14-year-old girl, bought her lingerie

A 36-year old man fondled a 14-year-old girl in Far East Dallas and tried to get her to send him pictures of her wearing lingerie, police say.

Oscar Deleon-Martinez has been charged with indecency to a child for sexual contact, a felony. He was booked into Dallas County jail early Thursday morning, and he remains there in lieu of $282,000 bail.

Police alleged in an arrest warrant affidavit that family members found text messages on the girl’s phone with Deleon-Martinez in early May that led them “to believe something inappropriate happened” between the two.

The family members told police they confronted Deleon-Martinez, who admitted he fondled the girl, bought her lingerie and asking him to send pictures wearing it.

Deleon-Martinez had later sent a text message to one of the family members “apologizing for what he had done” to the girl and “asking if things could just go back to normal.”

Police said one of the family members recorded a call on Wednesday with Deleon-Martinez. On the call, he admitted to fondling the girl and receiving a picture of her in her underwear, which he said he deleted, police said.

The victim told police that Deleon Martinez was teaching her about sex, according to the affidavit.

Deleon-Martinez has no apparent criminal history in Dallas County.
