Video: Burlesque star Dita Von Teese talks about a few of her favorite items from her new lingerie collection which launches at Bloomingdales this week.
Dream of looking like the queen of boudoir glamour, Dita Von Teese, in the comfort of your own home? Well, now you can.
The burlesque star has a new line of lingerie, launching this week at Bloomingdale’s, which draws inspiration from sexy, classic styles of the past.
Von Teese credits her own extensive vintage lingerie drawer and burlesque memorabilia collection for the influence on her designs. She shared a few of her favorites with TODAY, including the “Madame X” bra (based on a drawing out of a ’50s French lingerie catalog), “Sheer Witchery” (which revives the ’70s and ’80s cult classic demi-cup), and “Her Sexcellency”, an homage to early burlesque star Sally Rand’s famous tagline.
These are items that “beg to be shown,” said Von Teese, who encourages the pieces to be worn interchangeably as outer or underwear.
Before launching her career as a performer, Von Teese spent years working in a lingerie store and offers these tips for women looking to spice up their underwear closet:
- Find a size that fits, and if you don’t like the number, cut the tags!
- Buy in sets so you have different options to mix and match. Extra points for trying different styles.
- And finally — you’ve gotta wear it, so why not enjoy the experience and have fun.
You can check out the rest of the collection at select Bloomingdale’s locations and online at bloomingdales.com.

Sexy Kate Stoltz poses in racy underwear after leaving her strict Amish community to become a model in New York.
The 23-year-old turned her back on her ultra-strict upbringing to appear in reality TV show Breaking Amish in 2012.
Now she’s swapped horse and cart for cab rides and casting calls working full time as a model.
Growing up Kate was forbidden from having her picture taken because of traditional Amish beliefs.
On top of school work she spent hours in the fields pitching hay as well as cooking, cleaning and looking after her family.
She said: “Before school I would go out and feed the cows.
“After school I’d take care of the calves, I make dinner for the family and spend about six hours at a time just out in the fields raking hay.”
Her clothes were shapeless dresses and bonnets and she had to cover her head.
But after appearing in the show and being signed by Major Model Management, Kate’s life changed overnight.
Now she sets pulses racing with saucy underwear shoots.
She said: “I actually found it really hard to get used to New York because it’s so loud and there’s so many people.”
And Kate had to deal with the disapproval of the community she left behind.
She said: “If I were to even show my father face-to-face a lingerie picture that I took he would probably burn it and tell me that I’m going to hell.
“The Amish think that modelling is one of the worst things a woman can do, they see it as flaunting your body and being vain.
“I mean my dad’s a minister in the church, he of course does not approve – but then again he also knows that he can’t control my life.”
However, despite the radical change in her lifestyle, Kate is still very close to her family.
She said: “Even though they don’t approve of my lifestyle they’re always telling me to come back home.
“I couldn’t ask for better parents or better brothers and sisters.”
With no desire to return to the Amish way of life Kate is making plans for her future and appearing in a second series, Return to Amish.

She said: “I actually have really big hopes and plans for the future.
“I want to be on a billboard in the middle of Times Square and I want to be the first person in my family to ever have a college education.
“Now that I’m outside of that I realise the world is so large and the only thing that matters is who you are and whether or not you’re happy.”
