I won’t pretend to be a fan of the WNBA. And I think my record is clear on supporting lingerie leagues in all sports, or frankly any type of activity that involves attractive women, freely pursuing excellence whatever little amount of clothing they choose.
But I’m not posting this because I endorse what Gilbert Arenas is saying. Not by any means. I’m posting this because it’s always entertaining any time a celebrity decides one simple, stupid, reckless and damaging social media post is worth committing career suicide. And that’s exactly what Arenas has done here. With one Instagram post he managed to aim a flamethrower at lesbians, the NBA that paid him tens of millions and owns the WNBA, women in general, and the entire cast of “Orange is the New Black.” (Sorry, Taylor Schilling and Laura Prepon.)
Maybe this won’t do him any harm. Maybe Arenas has enough money socked away that he’ll never need an endorsement deal. Maybe he doesn’t care that he just made himself radioactive with the NBA and most of the country and will never be able to get a job coaching or broadcasting, ever. And maybe his current employers — the Shanghai Sharks — don’t mind having a homophobe on the payroll. All I know is you can’t fix stupid. All you can do is blog about it.

And no, there won’t be any children in sight that night!
“Gwen and Blake are planning for a very romantic New Year’s Eve. Christmas is going to be all about her kids, but New Year’s Eve will be adults-only time,” the source explained to HollywoodLife.com. “They’re looking forward to celebrating with friends and getting wild and of course spending private time back in their hotel suite.”
The source continued, “Gwen is giddy about it, she’s already bought some super sexy lingerie at Agent Provocateur for the night. The stuff she picked is black with an SM vibe, she’s going to blow Blake’s mind.” Whoa, those details might just be TMI-level! Blake is definitely going to have a good New Year’s Eve, huh?

But, don’t forget that before things get hot and heavy between Gwen and Blake they’ll be joining Carson Daly for his LIVE New Year’s Eve show on Dec. 31 starting at 10pm ET on NBC.
